Matěj Macháček

Matěj Macháček (b. 1992, Czech Republic) has studied at the painting department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. His work is a fusion of European and East Asian artistic traditions which builds on iconography inspired by his memories and experiences. His creative expression is a testament to his distinct approach, characterised by a unique and innovative technique involving the use of ink and acrylic paint on large formats of cotton paper mounted on canvas, which allows him to communicate genuine artistic messages on both intimate and grander scale. Matěj’s paintings have been exhibited around the world, including notable venues such as MOCA Taipei, the Taitung Art Museum, and galleries in Czech Republic, Italy and Taiwan.
